With over seven years of hands-on experience in the animal care industry, I’m not just a trainer. I’m dedicated to helping people understand & work with misunderstood dogs. Anxiety? Fear? Reactivity? Overconfidence? I’ve worked through it all. Specialising in dog behaviour, training & modification I help dogs & their owners understand each other better, bridging the communication gap between dogs & their people. Whether it’s helping an anxious dog build confidence or guiding an over-the-top pup toward balance, my goal is to make a real difference, transforming behaviour, strengthening bonds, & helping dogs & their humans thrive together. Every dog deserves a chance to succeed.
While I’ve not always been a local, I’ve lived in the area since 2015. Growing up in Far North Queensland, I made the move to Tasmania to follow my dreams & eventually relocated to Nowra & made a career change, to follow my heart. I wouldn’t change a thing about my journey. My strong dedication to continual improvement means I’m always up for a challenge! Whether it’s travelling the world to learn, work, or study, I’m committed to growing & sharing my knowledge. I’ve travelled throughout Australia & across the world, working with dogs & chasing knowledge to learn & grow. I don’t just train dogs, I build working partnerships. With a strong background in training detection dogs, I’ve successfully trained numerous now-operational detection dogs across different specialties.
Dogs have always been an integral part of my life, shaping my personal growth in ways I could never have imagined. They weren’t just pets, they were best friends, support systems, & the ones there at the end of every hard day. Growing up surrounded by a variety of incredible dogs, including Tipper (a Dingo x Koolie), Eli (a Border Collie), Streex (a Wolfhound x Mastiff), & Oscar (a Maltese Shih Tzu), I developed a deep understanding of dogs’ unique personalities & challenges. I’ve also spent time with other dogs throughout my life, including poodles, Chihuahuas, mastiff mixes, boxers, Beagles & more, all of which have helped fuel my passion for working with dogs.
But my expertise goes beyond training alone! I believe in enriching dogs’ lives through movement & adventure. Whether it’s structured training walks for behaviour improvement, confidence-building excursions, or simply providing dogs with the exercise they crave, a well-enriched dog is a happier, more balanced dog. I ensure that every walk, whether with high-energy working breeds, reactive dogs, or those needing extra guidance, becomes an opportunity for learning & enrichment.
When I’m not working with dogs, I’m out embracing life’s adventures! Bush walks, beach days shamelessly building sandcastles between sunbaking sessions., paddleboarding, swimming, & camping. I’m always on the move, keeping up with my ever-active mind. I’m a big kid at heart. When I’m not out exploring, I’m gaming on my PC or PlayStation.
Music is a passion, so you’ll often find me at concerts & festivals. I also have a bit of a shoe obsession! One for every occasion! Above all, my friends & family mean the world to me, & I’m deeply passionate about mental health, personal growth, & continuous learning. I’m engaged to my incredibly supportive fiancé, Dominic. Together, we make a dynamic team, facing life’s challenges & triumphs hand-in-hand, always lifting each other up & growing together.
I’m the baby of the team but don’t mistake that for inexperience! With 5 years of working with dogs under my belt & a lifetime to come, I know my stuff. From dog grooming to detection training to behaviour modification, I have a massive range of experience with dogs.
Family & friends play a massive role in my life & I wouldn’t be anywhere without them. From my incredibly supportive parents, who host pack dinner for all of us weekly, where they fill us (& all 5 dogs) with good food & impart us with invaluable knowledge from their 30 years of business ownership. To my partner Jack who has always had my back & has encouraged me to jump at my dreams & grab them with both hands.
At 19 I started working with dogs & jumped straight into dog grooming where I learned incredible skills in relation to animal care & health. Immediately after completing my dog grooming certification I wanted to try out a different avenue of dog care, knowing grooming wasn’t for me, but dogs definitely were! I moved into a dog training role, doing as many courses as I could get my hands on. I soon started taking on a working dog who I learned so much from & helped him move into the job he is in today. I also partook in a program, turning over multiple assistance dogs. Now I have three dogs of my own, each of which has come with their own challenges, but none that I haven’t been able to learn from & overcome.
I have a zest for the outdoors & love to partake in anything from bushwalks, to camping, to sandcastle building, to running, to swimming. Anyone that knows me will tell you I am a fish, once I’m in the water it is hard to get me out. While everyone else is on the shore throwing balls for the dogs or sunbaking, I’m racing to get to the ball the fastest or floating downstream without a care in the world.
I am our social media guru, most of our social media posts will come from me & 95% of the time I am the one replying to your DMs. I love the world of social media & the community it unlocks, & I love that it gives us the opportunity to connect with people outside of our area & help dogs & owners all over the world.
As the Head Dog Nutritionist at Paws & Peaks, I’m deeply passionate about dog health, care & the impact of proper nutrition. Whether I’m weighing & preparing my own dogs’ meals for the week or supporting others in meeting their dogs’ nutritional needs, I genuinely love seeing the transformation it brings. Watching fit, healthy dogs thrive truly makes my day. It’s my personal mission to raise the standard of dog ownership & increase awareness about how feeding your dog the right way can enhance both their quality of life & yours.
I am also very in tune with my emotions (this is code for I cry a lot). I care deeply about everything I do & I don’t do anything in halves. I have loved animals since I could open my eyes & I was always naturally drawn to dogs. While I didn’t have a dog of my own until I was 11, I was always making an effort to be around them. From the time I could crawl, at any family function you could always find me snuggled up with my aunt’s dog Puku. She was my first love & I think what fueled my love for labradors. Finally at the age of 11 my parents broke & decided it was finally time for me to get a dog. After many years of giving all my love to the ducks, chickens & guinea pigs we finally were able to adopt Ruby. She was a pomeranian, jack russell mix with a spice for life. She knew what she liked & what she didn’t & she wasn’t afraid to say it, she taught me the most of any dog I have owned so far & I am forever grateful to her.
When I’m not out with my dogs or training yours, I am at home snuggled up in the lounge with Bumi & my kindle or I’m on my PlayStation gaming. I love music & audiobooks & I will almost always have something playing in the background while I am reading or gaming to keep up with my busy brain. I have lots of experience with mental health struggles & I am no stranger to depression & anxiety, but these are things that I have learned to work with & I am passionate about raising awareness & also normalising having mental health struggles.
My 7-year-old working-line English Springer Spaniel, who came into my life as a tiny ball of energy at 8 weeks of age & grew into an experienced detection dog & loving pet. I trained Suki with a clear goal in mind, & together, we worked hard to achieve it. We became an operational team, working across Australia in various roles. Before being desexed, Suki had two litters of puppies through a registered breeder. Together, we successfully raised the pups, helping them grow into confident, bold dogs. Some now serve in operational roles with various agencies, while others live their best lives as loving family pets. Now retired, Suki enjoys the good life with couch privileges, outdoor adventures, & mentoring the next generation of dogs.
My 8-year-old Red Australian Cattle Dog, who first came into my life at just 12 weeks old, bringing with him an intense herding drive & a larger-than-life personality. From the start, Theo struggled with fear-based aggression & reactivity, not only towards other dogs but also people & unfamiliar situations. It was clear that he had a lot of potential, but he also needed the right guidance to unlock it. Through patient training, consistency, & a lot of love, Theo has made incredible progress. He has grown into a confident, adaptable dog, one who is now able to navigate a variety of environments with ease. His herding instincts are still strong, but they’re now channelled into productive, positive behaviours. While Theo’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges, his transformation is a testament to the power of understanding, compassion, & a commitment to progress over perfection. Training with Theo taught me that every dog is different & that real progress comes from working at a pace that suits the individual, accepting setbacks, & celebrating small victories along the way. Today, Theo is not only a trusted companion but also a reminder that, with patience & the right approach, even the most misunderstood dogs can thrive.
She is my 3-year-old English Springer Spaniel & our resident crackhead. She is Suki’s daughter & I took her on at just 8 weeks of age. She is trained to a nearly operational detection level, but never quite made it to being a working dog (she can blame her human mum for that). But that doesn’t stop her from acting like a working dog. Hiccup always keeps me on my toes with a brain that goes a million miles an hour & an affinity to try to find the highest thing she can jump off (or on). I am constantly having to find new & interesting ways to train her. Because of her working dog genetics, she craves things new & exciting, & repetition is the bane of her existence. She has taught me ways to keep things fun & fresh that I never would have thought of, including letting her run on a slippery dip as a reward for holding a down for a minute. Hiccup is a dog of many names & is mainly known by family & friends as “Bob” or “Mino.” I don’t know where those names come from either. She also has a ball addiction just like her fur mum & would happily play fetch until she dropped. And just like her human mum, she is also a fish, content to swim for hours. We are a dream team.
He is my 2-year-old black Labrador. I often say he has rocks in his head instead of a brain, but that doesn’t make him any less lovable. He is one of the social butterflies of our pack, always down to play wrestle with a puppy or tell an older dog when they are being inappropriate. He is one of our main instructor dogs & you will often see him teaching life skills. Some of Bumi’s favourite life skills that he has developed over the years include how to steal eggs from the chook house without his grandpa noticing & how to get the tastiest food from the compost without being caught (typical lab). But despite his criminal tendencies, he is extremely eager to please. The true way to his heart (as with any Labrador) is through his stomach, & he will do anything for a snack. Bumi is a failed working dog. After spending his early months of training being an unstoppable confidence machine, unfortunately at 8 months of age he entered a fear period & never came out the other side. After this, he was rehomed to me & is happily living his best life as a pet boy. I have worked diligently with him to build his confidence back up & I can now very proudly say that we can walk down a busy street or sit at a café without a care in the world. A year & a half ago, Bumi would have screamed before we even got a metre from the car. Of course, with any journey it is not a straight line, & we will be managing Bumi’s fearfulness for the rest of his life. But for my boy, that is something I am more than happy to do. Like Hiccup, Bumi also goes by many names, mostly “Poom.” This came from his love for pooping in the crate as a puppy. He has always been a unique boy.
She is my family dog, co-owned by my parents, myself & my brother. She is the biggest personality on the property. Nutmeg is a whopping 3 kilos of pure muscle & attitude. She’s bursting with confidence & will dive headfirst into playtime with any dog, no matter how big they are! She is a willful soul who will keep you thinking of new ways to train her, & her Jack Russell genetics allow her to outsmart us all sometimes. Nutmeg likes to do things her way & will push boundaries at every turn, constantly making me need to change up my training style & adapt to keep on top of her brain & willfulness. Being small doesn’t stop her, she regularly keeps up with the big dogs, wrestling Bumi & getting right in the middle of fetch games with the rest of the packs. She would easily be the most confident dog out of all 5. I have a big heart & always have room for more people & their dogs. I love creating new bonds with dogs & helping people. Changing lives for the better is what fuels me.
